Alongside the towpath beside the Bridgwater & Taunton Canal. The engine house was derelict until recently ( http://webapp1.somerset.gov.uk/her/details.asp?prn=43831 ) but has now been restored as a smart dwelling; the gate prominently displays the date 1826, the year before the canal became operational. The World War II pillbox, indicating the significance of the canal as a defence line in case of invasion, is apparently Type A.
