Located at the crossroads in North Chailey and including not only a service station but a small local shop and a garage. The crossroads only developed when what is now the A272 was newly built as a turnpike in the 1770s across a desolate open heathland with the only building being King's Head Inn which lies opposite. From the late 19th century North Chailey was gradually developed and the site became a cattle market until after the First War World when it became a garage.
