A row of asparagus and one of gladioli between the rows of trees in an orchard next to the A258, opposite Image Beyond the trees were further rows of gladioli and cabbages. The land curves down quite steeply to the marshy area around North Stream with the disused Betteshanger Colliery across the valley.
