Only pedestrians and cyclists can pass under the low bridge which carries the railway over Sherwin Street. The line runs northwards from here to Radford, where the line to the Erewash Valley line at Trowell diverges from the Robin Hood Line to Mansfield and Worksop. In the days of steam this was rather an exciting place to watch the procession of coal trains from the Leen Valley and the less frequent expresses to and from St Pancras.
