Formerly a cinema, and subsequently a nightclub and music venue. According to Shetlopedia, 'The Picture Palace' originally opened in 1913 and the cinema finally closed in 1989, by which time it was known as the North Star. It continued as a nightclub and music venue, and artists who have performed at the venue have included Idlewild, Mani (Stone Roses), Peter Hook (New Order), Durutti Column, The Delgados and Ocean Colour Scene.
