This dates from 1748, but I didn't find out the name. It starts "Fair" but the rest of the sign had broken off. Further information provided by Dr Neil Clifton: This is Fairwall Farm. It also gave its name to the nearby cemetery, which was originally known as Fairwall Cemetery. However, careless or insensitive printers or journalists often referred to it as Fairwell Cemetery, which of course did not go down well with the recently bereaved. So the cemetery was renamed as the simple 'Bacup Cemetery'.
