This well known garage in Chapel Street Mochdre suffered a serious fire on 22 March 2011. The blaze left the car port and workshop at the garage and MOT centre completely destroyed, according to North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, as well as causing heat damage to an adjacent property. A spokeswoman for North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said the cause of the fire had been determined as deliberate. According to press comment following the incident it appears the building had been standing since the time cart drivers stopped there to change their horses for the highway, which now leads to the Welsh Mountain Zoo.
