This wall monument at the southwest corner of the church has a carving of the shepherd James Waterson with his dog at the foot of the gravestone. The memorial inscription reads:- Near this place are Deposited the body of JAMES WATERSON Late Tenant in Headshaw Who died AD 1736. Also JANE BAILLIE his spouse ALEXANDER and ISABEL WATERSON their Children Erected by Thos. Waterson His Affectionate son 1781
