New Moss Wood is located on the outskirts of Cadishead on the edge of Chat Moss. The existing landscape is open, flat farmland on peaty soil, with relatively little woodland cover. The surrounding area is intensively cultivated. Agricultural activities on this site ceased in approximately 1990-91. The site forms part of the Red Rose Forest. http://www.woodlandtrust.org.uk/en/our-woods/Pages/about-this-wood.aspx?wood=4656 - Woodland Trust
