The setting makes it look like a rural postbox, but in fact it's by the busy London Road (the A3100), near the entrance to Ganghill. The box dates from the reign of King George V (1910-1936). The Royal Cipher is very stark, and does not contain the Roman numeral V, whereas George VI boxes always have a VI in the cipher. This box was made by the Carron Company of Stirlingshire, whose name is in the black painted area, at the bottom of the box. The box in situ:- Image Postbox number:- GU1 180. Post code:- GU1 1**.
