View northward, towards Skelton Junction and the North; ex-North Eastern ECML (York avoiding lines). The scene is taken from the footbridge off Wilton Street and gives an impression of the extent of the great Yards, which stretched for a mile ahead, the Goods Lines joining the lines through York Station at York Yard North. On the right is York Wagon Works and a 350hp 0-6-0 Diesel shunter can be seen at work; the great Carriage Works were off to the left. The Up Class F freight is headed by LNE B1 4-6-0 No. 61353.
