Taken from the deck of the Ullswater steamer 'Lady of the Lake' as she sailed between Norfolk Island and the western shore the photograph shows the lower reaches of the Glencoyne valley. The Glencoyne valley consists of the low land by the shore, the saddle in the middle, left distance and the valley beyond. The buildings in the lower, middle of the photograph are part of Glencoyne farm and the hill to the right of the photograph rises to Swineside Knot.
