The largest of several artificial tarns and meres in the area (some others being Kitmere http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2288394, Terrybank Tarn http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3079754, Lupton Reservoir http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/124106 and Tarnhouse Tarn http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1560728 They do add some character to the landscape. In this view the two farmhouses are Middle Fell (left) and High Fell Houses and the skyline is 271m High Audland (un-named on OS maps).
