During WW1 Hedenham Hall was used as a Hospital for wounded soldiers. It opened with a capacity for 35 patients on the 3rd of April 1915 on the initiative of Miss Mary Carr whose home it was at the time. By the time it closed on 23rd December 1918, 771 patients had been admitted.
