Gaolgate Street

The photograph shows Gaolgate Street (viewpoint and ahead) at its junction with Market Street (right) as it was in the autumn of 1969. On the left is the Guildhall. The original Guildhall was demolished in 1934 as part of the Borough Council's plans to improve Market Square. As can be seen in the photograph the new building was rebuilt further back. The bus is a Midland Red service s82 to Baswich Image] .
