This postbox stands outside the former post office, which had a chequered history of closures around the turn of the 21st century. It closed in about 1996, was reopen by 2001, before closing again at the end of 2003. Services resumed on 18 March 2004 but served by the postmaster at nearby Kings Stag at the Halsey Arms opposite - but that ceased on 5 May 2005 and there has been no post office service in the village since. The box is emptied finally at 4pm on weekdays and at 10:45am on Saturdays.
