Image: © Ben Brooksbank Taken: 10 May 1965

View southward, towards Durham, Darlington, York etc. on ex-North Eastern East Coast Main Line, also towards Consett via Ouston Junction. This station was closed on 5/12/55 and in 1965 appeared to be a private house. The lines on the right are the Slow lines. The Down express is headed by a Type 4 Diesel, unidentified. [Note: the photograph submitted previously, my Image], was NOT of Birtley - and remains a mystery].
