Bridge no. 4 takes the railway over Cow Lane. This section of railway, from Milner Royd Junction at Sowerby Bridge to Dryclough Junction, opened on 1 January 1852 as the West Riding Union Railway. It now forms part of the line from Manchester Victoria to Leeds.
