The line seen here is swinging north, from the Sandilands stop onto the old railway alignment running under the photographer's feet and northwards, under the junction of Sandilands and Upper Addiscombe Road, towards Elmers End. Invisible behind this is the other branch swinging southwards onto the same railway alignment and heading towards the tunnel and beyond to New Addington.
