The line opened in 1884 (from Barnwell Junction to Fordham) and 1885 (to Mildenhall), closing to passengers in 1962 and to goods two years later. Between here and Cambridge (to the left) there were stops at Fen Ditton Halt and Barnwell Junction. The next station to the right (and the first out of Cambridge with goods facilities) was Quy.
