The farmstead sits on the south ridge of Wandale Hill between the Rawthey and Westerdale and is overlooked in this view by Yarlside (left) and Kensgriff. By a quirk of the pre-1974 county boundaries it currently lies just outside the Yorkshire Dales National Park (in old Westmorland). This may explain the mobile phone installation on the edge of the farm? The park boundary may be changed in the near future to take in this and the rest of the northern Howgill Fells.
