Passing through Shenfield Station

The view from the London end of the middle platform at Shenfield in the days when the old Great Eastern signalbox was still in use. Shenfield is the junction station for the Southend Victoria line. Not all services stopped here but many did and lots of people would change here to and from the Colchester and Southend lines. There was also a very large number of commuters from this station.Seen behind the signalbox are the sidings where the electric units were stabled between the morning and evening peaks. This is a early afternoon view with a class 47 hauled van train passing.
