Immediately to the west of the sheds, denoted by the trees in the background, is another short section of Bunn's Bank - see also > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2217305. Bunn's Bank is a fragmentary earthwork that runs for about two miles along the south and east of the parish. The exact age of this embankment is not known and some believe that it is early Saxon in date. According to local tradition, however, it was built by King Edmund in the 9th century to help defend his 'royal town' against the marauding Danes.
