The area is predominantly rural, with more than half of its residents living in settlements of less than 10,000 people. The population of the constabulary area is estimated to be 604,900 (ONS mid year estimate 2007), of which 1.2% are from ethnic minority groups

I am a police Sergeant based at Framwellgate Moor police station. I have been with Durham Constabulary for 7 years, all of my career has been spent on the front line policing on response and now in a neighbourhood policing role. I bring a number of skills to the role, I am a taser trained, trauma medic, PSU (more commonly known as riot officer), blue light driver, method of entry and a drone pilot. I look forward to working more closely in the neighbourhood and the aim for me and my team is to have a more visible presence and reduce crime and anti social behaviour in north, west and south of Durham city.

Along with my colleague PCSO Paul Gilroy, we cover the areas of Browney, Brandon, Meadowfield, Langley Moor, Brancepeth, New Brancepeth, Ushaw Moor, Bearpark, Esh Winning and Waterhouses. I am a Police Inspector with around 29 year's service, all with Durham Constabulary.
I came to the Durham City Neighbourhood role over three years ago, following a period as Force Incident Manager and Tactical Firearms Commander. in the Force Control Room.
I spent many years in Stanley as a Neighbourhood Policing Sergeant, where I listened to community concerns and worked in partnership with other organisations to reduce crime and antisocial behavior.
I am committed to Durham City and I ensure my teams are proactive, using innovation and problem solving to make Durham a better place to live, work and visit.

Hello, my name is PC Helen Wilson, and I have recently joined your local Framwellgate Moor Neighbourhood Policing Team following the recent uplift under the Neighbourhood Policing Guarantee.
I joined Durham Constabulary in 2004 and have spent over 21 years working on front line policing as a response officer in the West of the County at Chester Le Street and Stanley.

Priorities
| 19 Nov 2025 | Brandon PACT priorities: OPERATION ENDURANCE - dedicated days consisting of intensive patrols tackling off road bike issues, collaboratively working with Durham Constabulary’s own bike section to deter and prevent the anti social use of vehicles in the area. Funding has been sourced for Framwellgate Moor Neighbourhood Policing Team to have their own drone to tackle the issue to try and trace and locate the owner of the bike to take positive action- we currently have one drone pilot with three other officers looking to complete the training course. Further updates to be given at next PACT meeting |
| 6 Jan 2026 | Brandon PACT priorities: Rural crime – we have been utilising a Safer Pod intruder detection CCTV system to identify potential offenders involved in rural ASB/crime. This is a live monitored system which results in Police being contacting when suspicious activity is being captured, as a result we have attended several reported incidents to investigate and prevent any potential ASB/crime. Off road/E Bikes – We have recently delivered educational leaflets regarding the use of vehicles in an antisocial manner, this can be off road bikes, road legal motorbikes/quads or electric motorbikes. The purpose of these leaflets was to highlight the legalities surrounding the use of the vehicles, consequences of using them illegally or in an anti-social manner, where the nearest authorised track is located as well as how to report issues to Police, Durham County Council or housing providers. We continue to organise planned OP Endurance days in which we designate resources to tackling the issue along side our road traffic and bike section officers. Youth ASB – We have been increasing patrols of hotspot areas in which ASB has been reported, as a result of enquiries we have identified repeat offenders and conducted home visits to inform parents/guardians of what has been reported. We will continue to work alongside Durham County Council and local housing providers to deal with offenders. Further updates to be given at next PACT meeting |

Several electric off road bikes have recently been seized in the area with assistance of our own motorbike section. Youth ASB – We have been increasing patrols of hotspot areas in which ASB has been reported, as a result of enquiries we have identified repeat offenders and conducted home visits to inform parents/guardians of what has been reported. We will continue to work alongside Durham County Council and local housing providers to deal with offenders. Rural crime - partnership working with land owners is ongoing to identify those involved in anti-social behavior or poaching in rural areas. Further updates to be given at next PACT meeting |
