This street is part of Image Visible beyond the far end of the street, on the other side of Image, is the main building of Image There is a Waverley Terrace nearby (Image). Sir Walter Scott, author of "Waverley", also wrote a book called "The Talisman". However, rather than being directly named after the book, it is possible that the street was named after the diesel-electric direct drive paddle steamer Talisman, which, like the paddle steamer Waverley, sailed on the River Clyde (both of the steamers were named after Scott's novels).
