Leaving Cessford on the St Cuthbert's Way en route to Cessford Castle, I am left in no doubt as to how far it is to Kelso, even though I am not going there. The odd thing is that this milestone is not on the obvious current route from Cessford to Kelso (though it could have been in the past, of course).
