After a period with sub-zero temperatures the broad has frozen over, with only a few narrow channels of open water left. Mallards, coots and swans have gathered in the small area of open water by the car park on the broad's northern edge > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2204881. Ice is also kept from forming by the cut (left foreground) that links Rollesby Broad with Ormesby Broad, on the other side of the A149 road.
