Snodhill Park

Looking north-west across several sheep pastures to Old Lodge on the hill opposite. Park Wood on the left. Snodhill Park is a former Medieval deer park, first mentioned in records in 1375. The park and nearby castle (see Image) belonged to the Chandos family in the early Middle Ages. It was acquired by the Crown in the late 15th century and cleared by speculators during the 16th century. The park may have exceeded 1,000 acres and was enclosed by a stone wall, a rare feature in Herefordshire.
