Station Road can be seen on the left. Many people think that this is the end of that road, but in fact it continues on the other side of Priory Road and leads to the former station site. It was built about 1844, as this was when the station opened. Priory Road was developed c1888 as the road (without any buildings) is shown on the first edition OS map of that year. Alfie Grimshaw fish and chip shop can be seen on the left. It was opened in September 2007 by David Blackburn. It was a 2010 National finalist in the Good Catch Awards, regional finalist in the 2010 Fish and Chip Shop of the Year awards and regional winner and national finalist in the 2011 Fish and Chip Shop of the Year awards. The building is of unusual shape because when it was constructed the plot was determined by old field boundaries.
