Late November and early December 2010 saw much of Britain under a considerable blanket of snow, but here in Tring there was only a light covering which disappeared overnight between Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th. However the cold temperatures, which for two weeks had struggled to rise above freezing returned on Sunday evening along with mist and fog that varied in opacity hour by hour. This was the scene shortly before midnight in the unusually quiet High Street. As can be seen, Christmas lights bedeck the shops along the street. The Bell pub is on the right, while the row of buildings on the left are: The Post Office; The Nat West Bank (with railings, steps and portico); The HSBC (formerly Midland) Bank with belisha beacon outside; offices that have had various uses, I think currently as an Estate Agent; then the former Tring Brewery (with prominent coaching arch), which is now home to Almar Printers on the ground floor with flats above - one of which I used to live in. A few more buildings can be glimpsed in the gloaming beyond, leading to the crossroads with Akeman & Frogmore Streets in the centre of town.
