Two of the recently-erected street-lighting masts in Donegall Place Image To quote the official source “As part of the “Belfast; Streets Ahead” public realm improvement project, 8 feature lighting masts will be installed along the east side of Donegall Place. The first two masts were installed during the night of the 15th November. The remaining 6 masts will be installed after the festive period, in January 2011. Each mast weighs approximately 3.5 tonnes and approximately 1 tonne is attributable to the copper. They are 16.2m in height and the foundation for each mast has approximately 17 tonnes of reinforced high strength structural concrete.” The previous street lights can be seen in Image
