This is the same stretch of wall as shown in Image but seen from roughly the opposite direction. In the foreground you can see the beginning of a smooth curve, as the wall wraps round to follow the line of the lane. It's plain from the heap of stone in the background that materials don't arrive from the quarry neatly graded. Building the wall must be something of a three-dimensional jigsaw puzzle, with a good deal of skill going into picking the next piece to add. For the next in this sequence of five, see Image
