The small bronze sculpture is in the centre of an ornamental garden in front of Mikasa House on Amethyst Road. The lion's mane is cast as chains reflecting the former industrial and ship building uses of the site. It was one of six sculptures temporarily sited at the Gateshead Garden Festival from May to October 1990 before being moved to their permanent riverside site in the Business Park.
