More an entrance to a courtyard between the old Post Office on St Nicholas Street, the Stamp Exchange and the St Nicholas Buildings, now all offices. Pedestrians are excluded by gates at both ends. Old maps show that in 1862 there were at least six narrow, unnamed alleys running parallel to Denton Chare passing through this area. By 1896 they were gone.
