Apethorpe Hall North Front

The 110 metre long North Front of Apethorpe Hall (listed Grade I). The total lack of uniformity and the variety of construction periods of the north elevation of Apethorpe Hall illustrate how the Hall has developed over the five centuries since construction started c. 1460. Originally this was the main entrance front. The original gatehouse of c.1460 with its arched doors may be seen to the left. This is the gateway that would have been used by Elizabeth I, James I, Charles I and other monarchs when they visited.
