Kirkley Hall was built as a country house in 1764 for the Ogle family http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ogle_family but largely rebuilt 1927-30 after a fire. There is a long pergola attached to front. The Kirkley Hall estate is now an agricultural campus for Northumberland College. http://www.heritagegateway.org.uk/Gateway/Results_Single.aspx?uid=238808&resourceID=5
