This large pub was rebuilt in the 1930's in the mock-Tudor style, which was popular at the time. It replaced an earlier pub of the same name, on the same site which, judging by old photos, probably was converted from two or more cottages. The original pub was certainly there for much or all of the Victorian era, and possibly was even earlier.
