A sign on Old Dixton Road shows no through road ahead. The present-day route of the A40 cuts across the former course of Old Dixton Road, which resumes on the other side of the A40, after a gap of about 125 metres. Ahead, this side of Old Dixton Road peters out into a footpath to the A40.
