The road is now officially a no through road although it is just about feasible to get a vehicle from here to just west of Marlborough as the road becomes a byway open to all traffic at Barbury. You'd need a 4x4 or an off-road motorcycle to do it though. Between 1761 and 1875 it was a turnpike road to Marlborough and Everleigh tolls being paid here Image
