Great Saxham St Andrew?s church

This is not an ancient church although it retains its two Norman doorways. It was for the most part rebuilt in 1708 after the Norman church started to crumble. The church can be viewed from almost any angle without trees blocking the view. On the wall of the chancel the merchant John Eldred, who died in 1632 and who introduced nutmeg to England, looks down, closely resembling Sir Francis Drake.
