St. Mary's church (Eglwys Y Santes Fair) was erected within the town walls to serve as a church for the garrison stationed at Caernarfon Castle. The original church on the site was built in 1307 by Henry de Elerton who at the time was the assistant master mason of the castle. The church was rebuilt in 1814 leaving very little of the original building present. See also: Image
