View eastward, towards Wigan and Manchester; ex-Lancashire & Yorkshire, Manchester (Victoria) - Wigan (Wallgate) - Southport (Chapel Street) secondary main line, junction of west-to-north and west-to-south loops connecting with the Liverpool (Exchange) - Ormskirk - Preston/Blackburn main line - seen crossing in the distance. (The south loop was closed on 9/3/62, the north loop on 16/6/69). The train is the 17.10 Manchester Victoria to Southport.
