St Peter's church > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1992888 is situated on the 30 acre Crostwick Common, where it was built on the site of an older church. Extensively restored in the 19th century the only medieval survival is a wallpainting depicting St Christopher > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2054997 on the south wall opposite the north doorway. Both the baptismal font > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2055000 and the rood screen > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2054992 date from the Victorian restoration, the latter being an excellent copy of a medieval screen. One of the benches > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2054995 is carved with the date when they were made: 1857. Two old benches remain at the west end of the church.
