Looking across the canal basin by a large area of land on the right which has been cleared of its old factory buildings by the Stourbridge Canal. The remaining derelict structure is the Stuart Crystal glass factory, which closed in 2001 following takeover by the Waterford Wedgwood group. Stuart Crystal had been making glass here since 1936 having moved from the Red House Cone site a short way to the north-east. What a loss! It seems likely that the land will be used for housing, as many "brown field" sites are these days. Ahead, the thirteenth lock out of sixteen in the Stourbridge flight can be seen.
