View NE, towards Epping and Ongar. This is a new station, opened 28/4/40 in place of original station on the ex-Great Eastern London - Stratford - Epping - Ongar line. This line was electrified and transferred from the LNER to the LPTB (Central Line), Stratford - Leytonstone from 5/5/47, on to Loughton on 21/11/48, terminating here until electric trains extended to Epping from 25/9/49.
