There are 80 or so cottages to let in and around Abercastle these days and although it still has a working harbour most of the sea-going is recreational. Some of these dwellings have changed little externally from 100 years ago but they possess luxuries undreamt of by their erstwhile inhabitants. A phone box and a post box remain but for shops and pubs you have to go a mile or two.
