The early 19th century milestone with cast iron plate stands on the wide verge beside the Cotswold stone wall. The legend reads STROUD / 4 / LONDON / 100 / CIREN / 10. Milestones are the original roadside heritage features with many dating back hundreds of years and these historic items are under threat from highway developments.
