Towards the engine house, which was completed in 1871. The steam beam engine was used to de-water the quarry pit and haul out slate for processing or to be dumped on the waste tips. Partial restoration was undertaken in 1976 and the structure is now in the care of North Cornwall District Council. The quarry site is accessible to the public as a trail.
