The development of early maturing varieties means that Maize is now regularly grown as far north as Dumfriesshire, but not usually Aberdeenshire! However, at least two farmers have attempted it in 2010. The taller plants to the right were sown under degradable plastic sheeting and have performed much better than the rest of the field which has grown in the open.
