The lack of a Roman numeral indicates that this box dates from the reign of King George V (1910-1936). The Royal Cipher used on postboxes in this period lacks the elaborate scrollwork seen on some of the postboxes provided in the Victorian and Edwardian periods. Years of repainting this box has dulled the sharpness of the cipher and particularly the crown. Image
